Most girls have dreamed of their wedding day since they were a little girls. I am however, a little different.
I have always dreamed of the proposal.
I honestly couldn’t tell you why, but for as long as I could remember the idea of the love of my life proposing was something I had fantasised about. And my god, did he nail it.

We were a day away from flying up to Hamilton Island for our first little getaway as a couple, I did know about the proposal as we have actually already planned the wedding. But I assumed he would propose on Hamilton, well I was incorrect.
The morning of, he was a little awkward and nervous. I knew the details about the ring as I used to work in jewellery and diamonds are kind of my thing. In hindsight, it’s obvious he was going to propose. He had told me a few weeks ago to “keep the 15th of March free for a date day.” But in my defence, he had worked away in another country for nine weeks straight and he is usually a date planning kinda guy so I simply thought he was just organising something cute.
He hates being late, to anything. In fact if he isn’t tracking to be at least half an hour early to everything, he stressed out. But on this day he was ultra stressed about not being early OR late.
It takes about forty minutes to get from home to Noosa up on the Sunshine Coast and he was complaining about sweating the whole way up there, meanwhile I am in the passenger seat being blasted by a freezing cold cyclone of aircon which he sits in the drivers seat sweating.. But when we got there we wandered up the path to the most beautiful setting, me being the photo freak I am decided to start getting pictures of the picnic because it was SO beautiful. Then I turned around and he was on one knee and I have never thrown my phone away so quickly in my life.

It was perfect.
It was a picnic by the beach, perfect blue sky weather, Moët champagne, a cheese platter and everything was absolutely picture perfect. Then the photographer introduced herself. Rebecca Colefax is her name and if you are based on the Sunshine Coast or surrounding areas and you need a photographer for an intimate moment, there is no one I would recommend faster than Rebecca.
My partner is not a huge photo man, he is that typical Australian bloke who drinks beer, gets dirty at work, swears a lot and is covered in tattoos. I am so grateful that he entertained me for the hour or so that we had Rebecca with us as I am a HUGE photo gal.
I didn’t cry during the proposal, he did. I cried when I saw the photos, he did not.
Rebecca made us feel comfortable, even surrounded by people she captured us exactly as we are. I absolutely have to go back and buy more images because even as I am writing this I am remembering photos in the gallery I wanted but I cut out of the final list.. Rebecca captured my awkwardness, my stupid comments that make him laugh and honestly all my favourite little pieces of our relationship, I can see them all in the images she captured for us.

I prefer this style of photography. I am not a staged kind of person, I LOVE raw authenticity and this is exactly what she captured.
The proposal setting itself was set up and organised by Amanda from Noosa Picnics. As I mentioned earlier that my partner works away and had been away for nine weeks or so and he hasn’t stopped raving about how lovely Amanda was and how easy she made everything. He is in a different time zone, eight hours behind to be exact and from what he has said, Amanda was responding late at night when he was emailed her trying to organise everything as he has limited communication time when he is at work.
On the day she came up and introduced herself which was lovely.
We had two hours of sitting back and enjoying the morning, we also had a wedding pop up right next to where we were sitting. A very small and relaxed ceremony which was wonderful to watch.
The colours my fiancé chose for the picnic were perfect, he spends so much time considering me and the things I might like and he is honestly the most thoughtful man I have ever met.

The Moët even has a significance to us.
We met on the 22nd of December 2022, we had a cute little sushi date after he had asked me our maybe four times after matching on Tinder. I am difficult sometimes…
My birthday is the 26th of December and on that particular day, it was a token birthday and I was pretty much on my own. I don’t have a lot of family here and given it is such a hectic time of year, my adopted family is always busy or away.
On my birthday, I usually have. glass of champagne with a strawberry in it, it’s just something I have always done and will probably always do. I had told him this and said it was a little sad I had no one to celebrate with this year.
This man came over to my house, the second time he had ever me with a bottle of Moët, two blocks of my favourite chocolate and watching Marvel movies with me all afternoon into the middle of the night. He came over on Boxing Day 2022 and never left.
He is the most wonderful human being I have ever met and I would go to the ends of the universe to see him happy.
I also just wanted to repeat how amazing Noosa Picnics and Rebecca Colefax were. If you’re local to the Sunshine Coast, I have included the links to their websites below should you be planning a proposal or even a small, intimate event. They were absolutely amazing to work with and I have never ending gratitude to them both for helping my partner through a bit of a nervous time while he was so far away.
If you do happen to read this Amanda and Rebecca, thank you again.
I have really loved writing about this topic and I will have some more details to come.
Until then,
Sarah x
