Daily writing prompt
How often do you say “no” to things that would interfere with your goals?

I say no a lot. Not only to things that may interfere with my goals, but to things that I don’t want to do, make me feel uncomfortable and to relationships that no longer serve me.

Saying no is one of the most powerful tools you can use to change your life.

An example of one of the most recent things I said no in respect to goals was going out on a Saturday morning after getting Nahla to the vet. Blood tests overwhelm us a little bit, being in the vet waiting room is not Nahlas favourite activity and it does drain me emotionally to sit there and wait for the results of how well she is tracking with a complex blood cancer.

One of my biggest goals this year was to get Nahla swimming more.

So I said no to going out with people and went to Nahlas favourite swimming beach instead. From the outside, this may seem petty. But at the end of the day the only one who understands what I am trying to achieve with my life is myself and worrying about what other people may think of my priorities is a waste of time and energy.

My satisfaction comes from accomplishing my own goals.

Not from other peoples expectations of what I should do with my time. I encourage you to say “No.” more often, without justification and without guilt. It’s empowering.
