Daily writing prompt
Which aspects do you think makes a person unique?

Our experiences are what make us unique.

Everyone’s perception of life is different. The hardest part of understanding someone else, particularly in an intimate setting is that their world was built completely differently to yours, even if yo grow up together.

Have you ever thought about the concept that you may wet your toothbrush before you put the toothpaste on but the person standing next to you may put the toothpaste on first?

There are endless ways to complete a task as simple as brushing your teeth, yet to you and your reality, the only right way is to wet the toothbrush first.

What about the siblings who were taught to tie their shoes by a different parent?

The both grew up in the same house, with the same mother and father, in the same town. Yet one ties their shoes with bunny ears and one loops-the-loop and pulls so their shoes are looking cool.

We are all bought into this world the same way. Clueless, tiny and vulnerable. What happens to us in the first 1-7 or so years is what teaches us who we are and where we fit into this world.

What follows as teenagers and young adults is either becoming complacent and staying where you are with what you’ve learnt or opening your mind up to learning how to tie your shoes with the bunny method when all you’ve known is is loop-the-loop.

We’re here to experience new things and the moment you stop learning, the day you decide you’re no longer curious as to what else is out there, is the day you decide to stand still for the rest of your life.

And honestly, I could think of nothing worse than staying still. I crave new experiences. I crave learning and meeting new people. Discussing ideas and things that excite others.

So I am so grateful that you’re here and reading this while I learn to be more open and vulnerable because my experience of life so far has taught me to shut down and remain private.

Let’s grow and learn together.
