Admitted fault and offered to hear me out after shutting me down previously.
Family dynamics are strange. Especially when you become estranged from one another. Fairly recently a family member I had become very distant from came to me and offered a conversation over a difficult topic.
The hardest part for this person was that previously, they I had tried to reach out and I was shut down and left to my own accord.
Sometimes people react in the moment based of fear and discomfort. The most difficult thing is putting your hand up, admitting you reacted poorly, apologising and extending an olive branch out.
The conversation that followed was different to what this family member expected it to be and at the conclusion it was apparent that my intentions were different to what was expected.
Just remember to hear each other out, we all have out own versions of reality and our own experiences and unconditional love is simply holding space for one another in those moments.
