I haven’t spoken a lot about this topic as yet because I really am still in my little bubble over it all.

But this is a little story about My Ring 💍

I worked in Jewellery for a few years, when I was there I studied Diamontology and I was obsessed with it. Where they came from, how they were mined, how much effort goes into obtaining a diamond big enough to be cut into a one carat stone, how rare it is to find certain colours and clarities, I honestly had the time of my life learning about it! – Yes, I am a dork.

I saw a ring when I was 22 and working a Michael Hill.

It was so perfect – I fell in love with it. The whole time I worked at that store the ring was never sold, I cannot even guess how many times I tried it on. I decided then a there that was what I wanted.

Fast forward to meeting the actually definition of the love of my life, he asked me one day, what it was I wanted and even though it had been a many number of years since I had this beautiful solitaire seared into my memory bank for eternity, I described it in every single detail.

I knew very early on in our relationship that he was going to be my husband. We have had some ups and downs but dating in your thirties after both parties had been through fairly serious separations, it’s bound to happen. The day he proposed I was so blown away by this ring being everything I ever wanted. Imagine having an image in your head, no photos, you’ve just got a vague memory of a ring you loved, a concept. And then one day, a man shows up and turns that image, that dream into a reality.

Top view – Tallon claws

I love the Tallon claws because they taper off into the diamond, they also do create a bit more security as the claw itself is longer. Given the width of the stone and the fact that I only wanted four claws, the Tallon style does provide that extra strength but is also so fine and dainty and perfection!

Claw style – Petal claws. When I saw this claw type on Pinterest, I fell in LOVE! I always wanted four simple claws with no basket band and jewellers always told me not to go with this as the ring wouldn’t be secure enough. The petal claws provide a bit of extra gold to hold it all together whilst also providing a touch of elegance and femininity to the side view of my ring.

There are more important things in life than material objects.

Absolutely! If you have been here for a while reading these posts, you’ll know health and financial stability are my number one priorities in life. But when you have had the vision of a ring in your head for as many years as I did, there is something unbelievably earth shattering when it becomes a reality. There is so much more about my fiancé that fits into this vision I had for my life, he is everything I ever dreamt of. But everyday, I catch myself staring at rainbows or looking at the details of the claws or watching my hand as it moves around in the light. One of my friends said I “Was like a cat with that thing” the other days and she isn’t wrong.

I would do anything for my fiancé. I have always had this fundamental belief that it is your job to ensure your partner feels loved, validated and like the number one priority in your life, which he is. And for him to go to such lengths to not only find the perfect ring, but to create such a perfect morning for me. It was everything I would have done myself and to know that the man that I will spend my life with, the man who will help me raise our children, the man who in my space and energy every second of everyday knew me well enough to organise and chose the things he did. The just tells me that I have made the right choice and I never have to doubt his thought process.

The perfect ring isn’t about the materialistic token. The perfect ring is about proving you know everything about the woman you’re asking to marry you and that you’re prepare to go to the ends of the earth for her. And I will for him, everyday. Forever.

DM Jewellers in Maroochydore are incredible. Their customer service, speed, care factor and workmanship is second to none. After he proposed, I heard all about the process and how easy it was, how helpful they were and that it did help ease a lot of his nerves and stress given he was on another continent for most of the process.

So if you’re local to the Sunshine Coast or surrounds, and you’re on the hunt for an engagement ring – check them out the Instagram below.

I will treasure this for the rest of my life and I cannot wait to tell our children the story of our proposal and that their father is such an incredible man.

Ladies – never settle. You may have to roll your eyes at a few frogs, but the good men are out there and they are worth the wait.
