We often fail to remember how small habits can change the trajectory of our lives. Think about steering a car and how one degree in the moment doesn’t effect your immediate desination, but if you drove all the around the world one degree to the right, you wouldn’t return to the same geographical location that you began.
The 1%, the almost effortless changes you make are the ones that have the biggest impact.
If you want more energy in a day..
The first thing you should be doing is drinking a glass of water to kick start your bodies functions. One small change you can make here is put a glass of water next to your bed at night so when you wake up to turn off your alarm, it’s one of the first things you see.
If you want to grow your social media presence..
Spend an hour on a Monday morning scheduling a week of content. It’s an easy task, it takes almost no effort and once done, the rest of the week is easier.
If you want to boost intimacy in your relationship..
Make a tiny change to tell your partner how sexy they are to you once they’re ready in the morning.
We don’t realise how much attached our brains pay to the micro details of life. If you got 1% better everyday, that’s a 365% improvement in a year. If you can’t manage 1% a day, try 1% a week. That’s still a 52% improvement. If you can’t manage that, go with a month, that is still 12%.
Read one page of a book instead of a chapter. Eat one piece of fruit instead of three cups.
Done is better than perfect.
When it’s done, you can begin to improve.
I am struggling with posting content at the moment due to a few personal issues I have going on and while this is a basic post, it is taking me a lot of energy and concentration to get these written at the moment. But I am aiming to be 1% better in views this month than I was last month, that’s really just one or two posts. Doubling my views feels impossible, an extra 10 though? We can do that.
Focus on the small increments. They’re less overwhelming.
I also highly recommend you read this book. James Clear is such an inspiring man and his way of talking through micro changes is utterly inspiring.
