A very smart man made a bold remark once and it something I think about a lot when I feel uncomfortable.

When you climb Mount Everest, the air gets thinner. At first it’s hard to breath but eventually your body will learn to climatise and it gets easier again. This is just you increasing your capacity.

When we meet a new challenge that we have never faced before, our minds tend to halt, stall and begin to assess the issue and work out how to overcome this new problem. As adults, we just allow our ego to get in the way and try to tell us that we don’t need to learn, we already know everything we need to know and we should just walk away from the challenge and stay where we are.

True growth comes from recognising your ego and confronting the challenge anyway.

Self reflection and admitting we don’t know how to move forward is a very uncomfortable thing to do when it’s new. Particularly when it is the first time, we’re confronted with our own reflections, we’re forced to sit in the consequences of our actions and choices. It’s absolutely easier to walk away from the opportunity to grow and improve who we are as human beings than it is to take life up on its offer to increase your capacity for discomfort.

It gets even worse for a second when you realise that you will continue to fall into this space, over and over again, for the rest of your life. Because we are never really done. We never really finish learning and there is always space for something new to come in. An upgrade if you will.

Technology gets better with each upgrade we’re given. And while I am an avid IOS user and I hate when they change the interface of iPhones, if you were to give me an iPhone 11 after having an iPhone 13, I would genuinely be disgusted in the way it looks and the way it runs.

Our personality and our choices are simply our software re running the sae program over and over again based on experience.

Todays writing isn’t exactly ground breaking. It’s not overly personal or world shattering. It is however an invitation to reflect on some of the choices you’ve made this week, particularly with Mercury in retrograde highlighting our past indiscretions and realise that you are the sole perpetrator of the chaos in your life. You have the opportunity to upgrade, to do something different. To change your current reality from something you’re only content with to something you’re ecstatic with.

You just have to sit in the discomfort and not know how to move forward for a little bit.

And always remember, it’s only for you.

Thanks for sharing this reflection! It’s a powerful reminder that growth often comes from confronting discomfort and acknowledging our own limitations. Embracing the opportunity to upgrade and improve ourselves can lead to a more fulfilling life. -ArConsultings.org
